The Communications Awards is designed to encourage CTA chapters, Service Centers and
UniServs to communicate with their members; and to recognize and honor those which
communicate regularly and effectively.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Entries are solicited from the previous school year and should reflect the philosophy and principles
of the chapter, Service Center or UniServ and of CTA and NEA.
CATEGORIES
+ Social Media Engagement
+ Newsletters and Newspapers
+ Memorial Award in Honor of Jose Colmenares
+ Special Membership Communications
+ Communications to Parents or Community
+ Digital Media Award in Honor of Ralph J. Flynn
APPLICATION
Nomination form must be submitted online together with supporting materials. Locals may submit
entries into different categories; however, locals may not submit multiple entries into one category.

The State Gold Awards recognize individuals or organizations whose leadership, acts and
support show they are true friends of public education.
QUALIFICATIONS
+ The recipient of this award must make an impact in California that extends beyond
the local level.
+ Individual nominees may be a public official or private citizen.
+ The nominee does not have to reside in California.
CATEGORIES
+ Business
+ Non-Profit or Community Organization
APPLICATION
