The Community College Association celebrates the April 9 acquittal of CSU
Channel Islands professor Dr. Jon Caravello on charges of assaulting
federal officers. We honor the jurors who understood that Dr. Caravello
was protesting peacefully and acted only to protect himself and members of
his community from a violent and unnecessary assault by immigration
officers. Dr. Caravello’s commitment and actions reflect the finest qualities
of commitment to and care for community common to all who educate
California’s students.
