Chapter Activities for Campus Equity Week

Speaking Out for Campus Equity

The South Orange Community College District Faculty Association kicked off Campus Equity Week at the San Juan Capistrano campus by descending on the board of trustees meeting to speak out on part-time issues. Good show!

Solano Part-timers Make Gains

Through active organizing, meetings and one-on-one conversations, part-timers at Solano Community College won rehire rights, increased paid office hours and more representation on the chapter’s executive board. But that only begins to tell the story about the gains they’ve made.

Individual Rights and Employment Discrimination

All faculty, including part-time/adjunct faculty, have rights that are guaranteed to them as U.S. citizens or residents.  These Individual Rights can protect them against employment discrimination even as temporary, at-will employees.  They include the right not to be retaliated against, not to be subject to adverse employment actions, and not to suffer discrimination or harassment.
