
CCA President: Randa Wahbe

Randa is a dedicated educator, union leader, and advocate for faculty equity. A full-time English professor at Cypress College since 2001, Randa has held numerous leadership roles on campus, including Puente Program Coordinator, English Department Coordinator, and Academic Senate Senator. She has also served as United Faculty Secretary, Membership Coordinator, and Website Administrator, and as a liaison to key college committees.
Born and raised in California as the eldest child of immigrants, Randa holds BAs in Anthropology and English, an MA in Comparative Literature, and an EdD in Curriculum and Instruction. She has held multiple leadership positions within the Community College Association (CCA) and the California Teachers Association (CTA), and has served as an elected delegate to CTA State Council and the National Education Association (NEA) Representative Assembly.
Randa is a passionate supporter of part-time faculty rights and regularly engages in statewide advocacy to ensure all faculty voices are heard and valued.

CCA Vice President: Jonathan Ausubel

Jonathan has been a full-time English instructor at Chaffey College since 1998 teaching all levels of composition. He has served as Distance Education Coordinator for the district and as director of the Milliken Planetarium. For the Chaffey College Faculty Association, he has served as school rep, PAC chair, Membership chair, chief negotiator, and President, and continues to serve as grievance officer. A 2013 graduate of NEA’s Emerging Leaders Academy, Jonathan is keenly interested in part-time issues and is devoting the latter part of his career to improving the working conditions of part-time faculty at Chaffey and state-wide.
Born and raised on Long Island, Jonathan is a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, and earned the following degrees: Honors BA in English with minors in philosophy and astrophysics (U of Toronto 1987); MA in English (U or Toronto 1989); & Ph.D. in American Literature and Semiotics (U of Delaware 1996). When not teaching nor advocating, Jonathan enjoys being with and traveling with his family, serving on the board of the Alta Loma Little League, and looking through his telescope, even from horribly light-polluted Rancho Cucamonga.

CCA Secretary: John Sullivan

John Sullivan has been teaching English in the California community college system since 1997. He currently teaches at three community colleges (Riverside, San Bernardino Valley, and Santiago Canyon) and has served on his local Executive Boards in various roles, including SBCCDTA Secretary, and participated in shared governance activities, including accreditation, strategic planning, and senate. At the state level, John has been involved in CCA since 1999, including serving on committees and as committee chairs of PTFIC and the CCA Governance Committee. He has served in various positions on the CCA Board of Directors since 2005 including as a geographical director, the At-large Director for Part-time Faculty, and CCA Secretary. He is a supporter of CTA Aspiring Educators (formerly SCTA) and remains active on his college campuses.

CCA Treasurer: Jesus Gutierrez

After completing his service in the U.S. Marines, Jesus began his academic journey at Rio Hondo College before transferring to UCLA to study Applied Mathematics and minor in Statistics, and Pure Mathematics at CSULA. Along the way, he participated in three NSF programs and was awarded the prestigious Eugene Cota-Robles Fellowship at UC Riverside, where he pursued a Ph.D. in Pure Mathematics. He often points to his transitions out of the Marines and later from his Ph.D. program defining inflection points that shaped his journey.
A proud “road scholar” from Baldwin Park, Jesus has been teaching mathematics full-time at Citrus College since 2008. His work extended beyond the classroom through the California Math and Science Project (CaMSP) Grant, where he partnered with local schools to support teachers from elementary through high school. At Citrus, he played a key role in securing successful grant applications that directly benefited students, and his dedication to teaching earned him twice the UC Irvine’s Outstanding Educator Award.
Jesus is also deeply committed to unionism and leadership. Actively engaged at the local, state, and national levels, he currently serves as Treasurer of his local chapter. He brings a wealth of experience as a graduate of two CCA academies, the NEA Organizing Track, active participation in conferences, CCA Board, CTA State Council HE delegate, and NEA HE delegate to the Representative Assembly. His leadership has been recognized with Citrus College Faculty Association’s W.H.O. Award on two occasions.
Energized by his passion for higher education, Jesus looks forward to continuing his advocacy and building strong collaborations that advance the work of educators and students alike.
